silk imported from Japan, and hand painted in the USA. Colorwash hand
painted Japanese embroidery silk is available in 56 intricate,
variegated colorations. The hand painting process produces the elegant
impressions of dozens of ever-changing colors in a single coloration.
Colorwash lends a unique, individual
style and character to everything from intricate flowers to
sophisticated backgrounds and more. Colorwash is spun using extra-long
single filament silk for soft, strong, smooth threads that stitch
virtually fuzz and pill free. Each Colorwash card is wound with six
yards (5.5m) of 12-ply silk. Since one ply of silk offers similar
coverage to one ply of cotton floss, that six yards of 12-ply silk will
stitch about the same area as 12 yards of 6-ply cotton.
